The Power of AUM

The OM Mantra is a roadmap for meditation and spiritual practices (written as either AUM or OM). It's not only for persons seeking spiritual life, but for those who strive to realize the depth of the Absolute Reality. There are four main levels of consciousness outlined in the OM Mantra, along with three transition levels, which is a total of seven levels. Each of these is experienced on the inner journey of meditation and contemplation.

OM symbolizes deep realities: OM Mantra itself is not a mere human invention, the deep vibration emitted from chanting the AUM mantra is definitely experienced by the mystic traveller, whether or not one has ever heard of the OM mantra as such. The levels of gross (A), subtle (U), and causal (M), and the states of waking (A), dreaming (U), and deep sleep (M) are definitely there, regardless of the symbolism captured in the mantra when stated as AUM Mantra. It is these realities that are most useful in our spiritual practices.

The subtle sound is always there: A vibration exists, underneath all of the grosser aspects of being, like a substratum. The subtle sound of OM Mantra is constantly there, and when heard in deep yoga meditation, sounds like a continuous vibration, ever sounding out mmmmmmm.... At a deeper level, it is extremely loud and serene.

Emerging from OM: The reality symbolized by OM Mantra is the ground vibration out of which all other vibrations, sounds and mantras emerge.

Receding into OM: That vibration represented by OM Mantra is the substratum into which all those vibrations, sounds, and mantras recede when followed back to their source.

Silence from OM emerges: Eventually, this leads to a deep stillness and silence, which is experienced as the silence from which the sound of OM emerged. This silence is described as the fourth state, beyond the three sounds of A, U, and M, which are contained in OM Mantra. However, in this practice, as you internally repeat the sound of OM, imagine the underlying vibration of the universe were coming from all places and through all things.

Feel the vibration while chanting AUM: There is a sound that can be heard in your which comes from the brain. Some people experience this as a buzzing or ringing sound. By listening closely, the mmmmmmm... sound can be heard, like the end of the OM mantra (Or you might hear it as eeeeeeeee....) feeling this vibration, with the awareness of AUM is a good way to start the aspect of OM. Gradually, it will expand to deeper sound of the mantra. Chanting AUM can be particularly enjoyable and insightful when recalling some of the other meanings of AUM Mantra at the same time.

Allowing thoughts to come and go: While chanting, it is best to gently allow other thought patterns to come into the field of attention, and then allow those thoughts to drift away. There is no intent of doing anything with these thoughts, either engaging them or pushing them away. In other words, chanting of AUM is not used to suppress thoughts and emotions, rather our attention is allowed to expand, and at the same time non-attachment is accelerated by the learned by experiencing the vibration, and letting go of the thought patterns. This is one way to gain access to the ability of being a neutral witness to the stream of thoughts in the mind, as is sometime described as being like watching leaves, sticks, and logs floating in river.

Remembering four planes with OM: The OM mantra designates the whole of the universe, including the gross, subtle, and causal planes (realms, or levels) and the absolute reality of which they are a part. The explanation below is a bit technical, but is truly a very practical way of using the mantra, once you understand the meaning. It does require working with mantra and meaning, but then it becomes clear and quite insightful.

Four parts of OM: The OM Mantra has four parts. First, is the sound like "Ah," then "Uuuu," then "Mmmm," and finally the silence beyond the mantra. Thus, the mantra is also written as AUM, as well as OM. The three sounds, and the silence have the following meanings:

The A sound refers to the gross world.

The U part refers to the subtle realm.

The M refers to the causal plane, out of which the gross and subtle emerge.

The Silence after these three, refers to the absolute reality that is the substratum for each of the other three realities.

Start slowly in remembering the parts: When using the mantra in this way, it is easiest to begin by remembering the mantra very slowly, allowing time to be aware of each of the levels. Be aware of the four parts of the mantra separately (though forming a continuous sound), something like this:

AaaaaaUuuuuuMmmmmm.....Silence.....

When the "A" of OM mantra arises in the mind field, be aware of the gross world, including the objects of the world, the people, and your own physical being. Actually allow your attention to scan these aspects of the world. Do not get caught up in these objects; just be aware of this level of reality, and then let go of it, so as to go beyond.

When the "U" of OM mantra arises in the mind field, be aware, as best you can of the existence of the subtle or astral realm, including whatever objects you might intuit. As with the gross world, do not get caught up in these objects; just be aware of this level of reality, and then let go of it, so as to go beyond.

When the "M" of OM mantra arises in the mind field, be aware of the causal, background stillness out of which the subtle emerge, and into which they rest when not active. This can be difficult to imagine. It might help to think of it like being the canvas on which a picture is painted, or the screen on which a movie is projected.

When the Silence comes to the mind field, be aware of the absolute reality that permeates each of the other three layers. This fourth level of the mantra the absolute reality, is experienced in a shallow way at first, and only deepens with continued practice of contemplation and yoga meditation.

ॐकारं बिंदुसंयुक्तं नित्यं ध्यायंति योगिनः ।
कामदं मोक्षदं चैव ॐकाराय नमो नमः ॥१

Omkaaram Bindu-Samyuktam Nityam Dhyaayanti Yoginah |
Kaamadam Mokssadam Caiva Omkaaraaya Namo Namah ||1||

(Salutations to Him) Who resides In the Spiritual Heart Centre as Omkara,
On Whom the Yogis Constantly MeditateWho Grants All Desires and also Liberation to His Devotees.
Salutations to that Shiva, Who is represented by syllable "Om"
Yogis were the Rishis and Maharshis, who remain integrated in harmony with mind body and the spirit, who pray and meditated for the benefit of not only mankind but maintain the equilibrium of nature, flora and fauna. Every yogi had a one prime ambition and that is to become one with the Supreme Being, which is the permanent bliss of freedom, the ultimate truth that dispels a person from many magnitudes of Ignorance.
A Yogi could look for integration of universe and self as well of integration between what is outside and inside, ultimately their consciousness merge into the consciousness of the Supreme Being, which is signified by the word Yoginaha. Those who derive such results follow and worship AUM, they tune with the vibrations of AUM by worshiping on AUM.

Sound vibrations of mantras have been proved as effective for this and therefore advised by the Indian tradition to establish conscious contact with and develop control over the central nervous system.

The most important aspect of AUM is the BINDU, or the dot it is the representation of the Supreme Consciousness i.e. ‘The Point Beyond’. The verses of the Purusha Suktam in the Rig Veda describe the three levels of transformation of human being, when the yogi evolves above these levels he comes in the same level as that of the Param Purusha,

AUM is the sound of Cosmos and has sounds of all vibrations of the cosmos in itself.  In Vedas it is mentioned that AUM is the sound of light. AUM surcharges man with vibrations of the highest reality. Human ear can hear only at a very narrow band between 20 Hz to 20000 Hz, the rest cannot be heard, which is why cosmic sounds cannot be heard by the human ear. These cosmic sounds were heard by yogis in their spiritual trances which broadened their sense spectrums.

Chanting AUM is identifying oneself with the cosmic resonance, the earth vibrates at 7.83 Hz and so does AUM. The primordial vibrations of atoms and molecules is thus represented by OM. When 2 vibrating systems are in resonance with each other, a rise in the amplitude of the waves take place. As one chants AUM, a great vibration is generated in your body right from heard to abdomen, and as we chant further this vibration converts into scalar waves which calms the mind.

The MMMM humming boosts production of Nitric Oxide in the body, which was well known to our ancestors 7000 years ago. AUM has a vibratory healing effect on your organs. These vibrations penetrate deep into tissues, nerve cells and improve blood circulation round the body, bringing much more oxygen to different organs and secretion of hormonal glands also stimulated in a better way. AUM vibrations generates electro-magnetic waves which propagate throughout the body making you feel more dynamic and joyful. AUM opens up quantum tunnelling, where the wormholes do NOT have a restriction of speed of light.

Since time immemorial our Vedic Rishis have arrived at this tone through intuition and meditation while identifying themselves with cosmic resonance. Our Vedic civilisation flourished on the banks of the river Saraswati from 9000BC to 4000BC.

The secrets of this universe are contained in energy, frequency and vibration. Chanting AUM raises your vibration to a higher consciousness, and it clears the channel for intuition. From the conch OM sound comes. This is why all Vedic Hindu temples have it. The sound it produces is awesome.

The Bible uses the corrupted version of AMEN, which does NOT resonate. When you show the symbol of AUM in the mirror it becomes 786--the holy number on every Koran. The Christian AMEN and the Jewish SHALOM is nothing but a lift from the Hindu King Mantra OM.   OM releases Nitric Oxide-- Amen and Shalom does nothing.

Chanting AUM stimulated your Vagus nerve which releases anti-ageing neuro-trasnsmitters. It helps regenerate your organs and cells by activating stem cells.

Resonances of earth, i.e, 7.83, 14, 20, 26, 33, 39 and 45 Hertz of earth. 7.83 hz being the strongest of all, OM or Schumann frequency.

Ohm- 7.83 Hz
Gam - 14 Hz
Hleem - 20 Hz
Hreem - 26 Hz
Kleem - 33 Hz
Krowm - 39 Hz
Sreem - 45 Hz

Mantras are Scalar energy based sounds which resonate in the Zero Point Field Aakashik hyperspace.

  • Mantras resonate your pineal gland . Pineal glands of Vedic seers were the size of a lemon. Ours in this 21st century is the size of dried raisin .
  • Mantras reprogramme your DNA. The human DNA can produce longitudinal scalar waves
  • Mantra is a carrier wave with potent information within it.
  • Mantras vibrations on DNA , chakras and pineal gland purifies and raises human consciousness
  • Mantras have immediate soothing effect makes the brain produce and release magic healing chemicals. Errant and disturbing thought are killed!
  • Mantras must begin and end with OM or AUM – OM resonates with the earth's heartbeat of 7.83 hertz.  NASA kept 7.83 hertz generators on their Apollo space crafts.
  • Mantras cleanse the environment and can reduce crime in a city—if chanted by sufficient numbers , the right way, and right number of times.  Some call this transcendental.  It is about quantum consciousness.
  • Mantras increase Prana or life force, sharpens intellect and boosts metabolism.
  • Mantras can reduce the surface tension of water. Sages kept Saraswati and Ganges water in copper lotas with them
  • Mantras centres your mind ( effect on subconscious ) and slows down your breathing.
  • Mantras increase your Auras as seen by Kirlean photography—due to the effect on sympathetic and para sympathetic nervous systems.
  • Mantra chanting must be done with intent, to make it more powerful. This is about consciousness again.

Scientists have found out today that Vedic mantras  have therapeutic and psychological benefits even when recited without understanding them. For Sanskrit emanated from the DNA of seers.
